Turn a voice memo into text
Move a spoken note into a document you can edit and reuse.
Export the memo as a file first. Whisper Web reads the recording you choose; it does not connect to your phone's voice memo library.
Bring the memo into the browser
Save or share the audio file
Export the memo to the device where you will work. Choose a supported recording such as M4A, MP3 or WAV; the browser must be able to decode its audio codec.
Set the spoken language
Select the file and the language spoken in it. Keep the original-language task for a transcript, or select translation for English output.
Transcribe and correct
Run transcription, then check names, abbreviations and mixed-language passages. Edit the result in the workspace before copying or downloading it.
Choose the export for your next task
| Next task | Export |
|---|---|
| Edit in a notes app or document | TXT for plain text, or copy the text directly |
| Process text and timestamps in another tool | JSON for structured transcript data |
| Add timed captions to media | SRT or VTT, then check timing in the destination player |
Check the file and save the result
The standard tool accepts up to 300 MB and 20 minutes. Use the large-file tool for a local recording up to 1 GB and 1 hour. A familiar extension does not guarantee a supported codec; try another browser or re-export the recording if decoding fails.
Download a copy you want to keep. Whisper Web tries to save the transcript in this browser, but browser data can be cleared. If saving fails, the current text remains available for export.
Common questions
Can I import an iPhone Voice Memo?
Save or share the memo as an audio file, then select it in Whisper Web. M4A is supported when the browser can decode the audio codec inside it.
Can Whisper Web read my other recordings?
It receives only the files you select or the audio you record in the current browser session. It does not connect to your voice memo library.
Can it rewrite the memo as a summary or task list?
No. It produces an editable transcript. Rewrite or organize the corrected text yourself in your notes app.
